Ada E. Evers, 97, a lifelong resident of the North English community, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the English Valley Care Center in North English, after a brief illness. There will be no funeral service at her request. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Champion Hill Cemetery near North English, with Pastor Don Ridenour officiating. Ada was born on February 28, 1908, in the Green Valley Community near North English, IA, the daughter of John E. and Minnie T. Patterson Zillmer. She lived her entire life in the North English area. After graduation from North English High School in 1926 she was a school teacher in country schools. On November 2, 1929, she married Kindred (Bud) K. Evers in Morrison, IL. They farmed east of North English until retirement in 1972, when they moved to North English.. Her husband preceded her in death in 1988. The past year was spent living at Highland Ridge Retirement Home in Williamsburg, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Ada was a member of the Champion Hill Methodist Church and the community Merry Mixer Club. She especially enjoyed playing cards and visiting her many friends. Her kindness touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Family meant everything to her. Ada is survived by a daughter Shirley Banes and son-in-law Larry Banes of North English; four grandchildren: Garry Banes (Darla) of Des Moines; Kelly Banes (Paula) of Cedar Falls; Cindy Belland of Williamsburg; and Lonny Banes (Trish) of North English; 7 great grandchildren: Kelsey Belland, Blair Belland, Kiley Belland, Lexi Belland, Emily Banes, Samantha Banes, and Hannah Banes; 3 step great-grandchildren: Amber Engstrom, Lisa Brandon, and Michelle Brandon. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Marvel, in infancy, and her husband.
