Life Story for Wilfred J. "Bill" Cady
KEOTA-Wilfred J. “Bill” Cady, age 91, of Keota, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Bill was born August 4, 1925, in Keota, to George and Veronica “Frona” (Bohr) Cady and graduated from Keota High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during World War II. On November 13, 1955, Bill married Pauline Sheetz at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. A lifelong Keota resident, Bill worked for the City of Keota for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Keota V.F.W. Post #4716 and enjoyed doing yard work, tinkering, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and playing cards and games with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife: Pauline of Keota; daughter: Karen (Richard) Teitsworth of Washington; son: Patrick (Karmen) Cady of Wellman; seven grandchildren: Anthony (Amanda) Northup, Nicole Teitsworth and friend Alex Abbott, Kelly (Nick) Juelsgaard, Trevor (Jamie) Cady, Chase Cady, Wyatt Cady and Delaney Cady; seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Donald, Duane, Robert and Marion and two sisters: Alma Riordan and Donna Washburn.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with Fr. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery with military rites by Keota V.F.W. Post #4716. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the funeral home.
